Tournaments

Content Page Titles

All secondary-content pages should be subpages of that main page. For example, [Main Page Title]/Scoreboards, [Main Page Title]/Picks & Bans, etc.

Secondary-content pages that have multiple subpages (e.g. a separate page for each week's scoreboards) should have the subset in the URL after the secondary-content type. In other words, subpages should follow the flow of the {{TabsHeader}}s that are used.

Tab Order

The first row of tabs should always contain separate phases of the tournament, if applicable. For example, you might have Overview, then a Qualifier, then a Season, and then Playoffs.

The second row of tabs should always contain separate types of content. For example, you might have Picks & Bans, Scoreboards, and Statistics.

The third row of tabs, where applicable, is reserved for separate blocks within a phase of the tournament. For example, you may want to divide scoreboards between weeks of a season or between a group stage and a playoff bracket of a LAN. (The difference between a group stage and a playoff bracket would likely be blocks within a phase, because they have the same overview page.)

Redirects

In order to maximize the effectiveness of the internal search, redirects should be created from as many well-defined search terms as possible. For example, the following should all link to SMITE Pro League/Season 2/North America/Spring Season:

  • SPL Season 2 NA Spring
  • Season 2 SPL NA Spring
  • S2 SPL Spring Split NA
  • NA SPL Spring Split Season 2

Additional rearrangements of the words can also be redirected. It is recommended to use Special:CreateRedirect to create large numbers of redirects to a single tournament page.

Concepts

For any tournament with scoreboards, statistics charts may be created through the use of semantics. In order to make this happen, you will need to create a Concept that includes all of the relevant Scoreboard pages. A concept should be named so that the tournament that it comes from is well-defined. For example, don't use SPL Europe Season 2 unless you mean both the spring split and the summer split together.

Because concepts will be named in this way, you may (and should) create a redirect from the Concept name to the tournament overview page (e.g. if your concept is Concept:SPL North America Season 2 - Spring Split, then there should be a redirect from SPL North America Season 2 - Spring Split to SMITE Pro League/Season 2/North America/Spring Season). This redirect will allow the tournament page to be linked from all instances of {{IndividualGodStats}} and {{IndividualPlayerStats}}. It is also good practice even if those templates will not be used.

If you are making a concept that consists of data from only a single page (e.g. Concept:SPL North America Season 2 - Spring Split Week 1, then the name of the concept should redirect to that page that you are pulling scoreboards from.

Scoreboards

The |tournament= argument in scoreboards should use the same tournament name as the concept name.
