Highland Ravens is a team participating in the Smite Pro League. The team is owned and operated by Hi-Rez Studios.
History
The Highland Ravens was created [1] by Hi-rez in 2022 to promote SCC branding. The team roster was chosen due to qualification in the SCC Play-ins tournament. The original roster consisted of LeMoGoW, Rapio, sap7, iSilenced, and VaporishCoast.
2022 Season
The Highland Ravens had an eventful year in the EU SCC. The original roster proved to be a strong roster, as the team would be one of the best teams that EU SCC had to offer. The only loss the Highland Ravens would suffer would be against that Niflheim Wargs early in the season. While the team dominated EU SCC, the team would face NA SCC teams during the Spring Masters tournament. Their first match would be against the Kaolin Wardens, who would beat the team in a 1-0 set. Then, they would face the Eldritch Hounds who would beat them in a 2-0 set. The team had a good regular phase, but a poor tournament showing. Due to this, changes had to be made. On May 26, LeMoGoW would be replaced with Cxnnahh [2] and Sap7 would be replaced by Angry [3]. iSilenced would also leave later, and be replaced with Calvin [4]. The team was building a threatening roster, and this was cemented by the joining of Adapting [5] when Rapio decided to step down. While the names were impressive, the Ravens underperformed in phase 2. They would win three out of five games, and come Summer Masters, the team would fail to make a splash. The first opponent for the Ravens would be the SPL team, Oni Warriors. The team would lose 0-2 to the Warriors. Then, they would face and win against the Athenian Sages in an elimination match. The Highland Ravens would get a chance to challenge the Oni Warriors again, only to lose 0-2 once again. Summer Masters was over for the team, and a change once again had to be made. In August, Calvin would leave [6] and iSilenced would return. The team would return to form, and would once again demolish the EU SCC scene. All except for Hex Mambo would be defeated by the Ravens. The team was getting ready for the World Championship, and the team would defeat all but Hex Mambo in the EU SCC Road to Worlds. Alongside Hex Mambo, the team would now have to face NA SCC and SPL talent for a chance to play in the Championship. Yet, iSilenced could not compete and Cozyx [7] would sub for the rest of the year. The team would face the Tartarus Titans in their first match and would be defeated 0-2. Their next opponent would be the struggling Valhalla Valkyries, and the team would win 2-0. Their final match would be against NA SCC team, Eldritch Hounds. The team would 3-0 the bully of NA, and confirm their placement in the World Championship. Finally, the team got a chance to play in the most important week of the year. The Camelot Kings would be their first match, and it was an intense match. While the team did lose 0-2, the team played very well and even managed to turn the tides of the match for a brief period. The Ravens' year had ended, but their heads were hung high and some players were hungry for more.
2023 Season
Coming into the 2023 season, Hi-Rez would perform a reset on in-house brands. The name "Highland Ravens" was up for grabs. Haddix, Screammmmm, Venenu, BaRRaCCuDDa, and Hurriwind would claim [8] this name. While they were now Ravens, this team was a spiritual successor to the Olympus Bolts. Masked was also set to be the team's coach, but left and was replaced [9] by NeilMah. During the kickoff tournament, the team would face the Oni Warriors as their first set. Their first appearance was poor, as the Oni Warriors were a foe too great for the Ravens. This would result in a 0-2 loss. Due to the division format that Hi-Rez was implementing, the Ravens were placed in the Order division alongside the Camelot Kings, Eldritch Hounds, and Styx Ferrymen. After the tournament, there was some loss of faith from fans. The team looked good, but many worried that there would be too many "voices" in the team and that Hurriwind's inexperience would be a problem. These fears would disappear, as the Highland Ravens would have one of the best summer seasons of the year. They would defeat the Atlantis Leviathans, Camelot Kings, Styx Ferrymen, Gilded Gladiators, and Eldritch Hounds during the regular season. Their only losses would be against the Oni Warriors, who were undefeatable, and the Jade Dragons, who the core of the Olympus Bolts never seemed to do well against. They also lost against the Camelot Kings, who they would later win against in a tense match for first place in the order division. As 1st place, the Ravens would skip to Summer Masters. During Summer Masters, after a month of not playing, the Highland Ravens would face and lose 0-2 against the Eldritch Hounds. As of now, the fall season has not started.
