Ryan "0mega" Johnson was previously the solo laner for Team EnVyUs.

Biography

0mega lives in Austin, Texas. He was a former professional Halo player before he left due to pain in his hands. Afterward, he joined the Navy for four years before being honorably discharged for another, unrelated pain in his hands. 0mega was one of the first professional players in SMITE. His first team was SNIPE, which became the first team picked up by COGnitive Gaming. He played alongside Kaeyoh, MLCst3alth, Allied, and Shing. After team disputes, Allied and Shing would form the next SNIPE, Kaeyoh would retire and MLCs3alth and 0mega would be invited to a new team captained by andinster, called Vishus N Delishus. They eventually got picked up by Exertus eSports, and then again by COGnitive Gaming. Throughout Season 1, 0mega and his team were almost undefeated, dropping a single game to djpernicus' team DownToFrag. Qualifying for the SMITE Launch Tournament easily, they placed third after being knocked out by Team SoloMid in the finals of the winner's bracket, and again by Team Dignitas in the loser's bracket.

After the Launch Tournament, COGnitive Gaming would play throughout the SPL Season 1 NA Regular Season, placing second with a record of 14-6, and qualifying for the Regional Championships. At Regionals, they and their sister team, COGnitive Red, received byes through the first rounds. At this time, COGnitive Gaming had been named COG Prime. Defeating compLexity Gaming in their first set, they advanced to the finals against their sister team, where they were defeated 1:2, but still qualified for the SMITE World Championship 2015. Defeating Name Not Found and Titan in the placement rounds, they would again receive a bye through the first rounds of the knockout stage. They faced off against COG Red first, surprising everyone with a 2:1 win. Moving on to the finals against Titan, they would play in one of the most suspenseful SMITE sets of all time, winning the first 2 games, losing the next 2, and finally winning the last game after being forced to ban both Ymir and Ares from KanyeLife. COG Prime had become the first Smite World Champions. After this victory, they accepted a new sponsor in Cloud 9.

0mega played for Cloud9 during Season 2 Spring and Summer. Despite their World Champion title, they would only be the 3rd place team in the spring and 2nd place in the summer. This meant they would not even qualify for the Spring Finals, and only place sixth in the Summer Finals. Only days before SPL Season 2 NA Fall, he announced to have left and joined Team Eager.[1] He cited he was not having fun with the players of Cloud9 as his reason.

After Team Eager failed to qualify for the SMITE World Championship at the NA Super Regionals, 0mega decided to leave the team to pursue his best options for in Season 3.[2] He joined Team EnVyUs as their solo laner, competing in the World Championship for Xbox. EnVy won, making him the first person in eSports history to achieve the title of world champion on the same game on multiple platforms.

After their victory, 0mega joined Team EnVyUs for Season 3. 0mega quickly took the reins as captain after former captain Weak3n left, replaced by ranked superstar Masked, who had recently appealed for his unban. The community unanimously agreed that the new EnVyUs was incredibly mechanically skilled, with the team proving it within their first 2 games, defeating the newly formed Team Eager with a penta kill from CycloneSpin's Kali hunter. After these games though, EnVyUs flopped, struggling to beat nearly every opponent but last place team The Randozos. Masked left for Denial eSports, the first of many roster changes. Under 0mega's leadership, the team underwent roster swaps nearly every week, all unsuccessful in the long term. All fans looked to him to bring EnVyUs from the dead to no avail, blaming him for their failure. The Spring Split ended in ignominy for 0mega, who disconnected in the first game of one of the final sets, leading the team to surrender just after eight minutes in a shutout defeat, and then a one minute surrender after a troll match from the rest of the team without 0mega. As the captain, 0mega received the brunt of the negative reception from fans of the Pro League, even accused of telling the team to troll; he left the team one day later, announcing his retirement as well. Despite this, he continues to stream SMITE and has expressed interest in playing competitive Xbox SMITE for Season 4.

Trivia

  • He was diagnosed with bronchial asthma in 2014, resulting in frequent coughing.
  • First, and currently only, person to achieve the title of World Champion on multiple platforms in both SMITE and eSports.
  • He played the jungle role of Team EnVyUs for one week during Season 3.
  • Because of his long career and generally unchanging position at the top of leaderboards, he is consistently rated as one of the top solo laners in all of SMITE's competitive history, equaled only by Baskin and Divios of North America, and Dimi of Europe.
  • He is the influence for the in-game Cloud9 ChaacSquare Chaac skin.
