Season 2
Spring Split
After two weeks of competing in the Spring Split under the name Melior Morior, AFK Gaming changed their name to better represent the team's sponsor. They finished the split with a strong 4-1 record, falling only to the first place Team SoloMid and qualifying for the Multi-Region LAN and securing their spot in the Summer Split. In weeks 1 and 5 of the split, CycloneSpin was named SPL MVP, aided by his strong performances on often off-meta picks in the solo lane.
At the LAN, AFK gave a dominating performance, dropping only a single game to TSM as they handily defeated the top teams from NA and EU. With the victory, AFK qualified for SMITE Masters Sao Paulo, where they would compete against the best team of Latin America and Brazil.
On June 14, AFK faced off against INTZ e-Sports in the championship game of the SMITE Masters tournament in São Paulo. Allied was unable to attend, so Zapman, hunter for Team Eager, stepped in for AFK. INTZ, fresh off a 2-1 victory over Isurus Gaming, fell to AFK 3-0, with the American team claiming their second tournament win of the season.
Summer Split
After a slightly shaky start, splitting a series against TSM in week 1 and Legion of Carrots in week 2, AFK continued where they left off after the spring split, winning 11 straight games to close the season. Their final match in week 7 pitted them against Cloud9, a team that had coasted through the split in 1st place, dropping only one game to Eager. By beating C9 2-0, AFK claimed the first place position and qualified for the Summer Finals. Once again, CycloneSpin gave a stand-out performance over the split, earning MVP in weeks 4 and 7 for his play of assassins in the solo lane. Additionally, 3 members of AFK were voted onto the NA MVP Roster: CycloneSpin in the solo lane, KikiSoCheeky in the mid lane, and Incon in the support role.
After receiving a first round bye at the Summer Finals, AFK squared up against Team SoloMid. While they would struggle in the early games, late game teamfight prowess would help AFK to go up 2-0 over their North American rivals. In the third game, a mid-game pause looked to have been done while TSM was in combat, possibly giving AFK the victory by default. However, after review, it was determined that the pause was legitimate, and the game continued on. TSM then rallied back, winning the third game. The momentum continued from there, with TSM squeaking out a fourth game win to tie the series before dealing the killing blow in a final game stomp of the NA champions, their first series loss since a Spring Split Week 3 defeat, again to TSM. AFK would drop down to the third place match against Titan, where they returned with a vengeance. Spearheaded by strong play out of Weak3n, AFK gave a convincing performance, sealing the series 2-0 and claiming third place.
Fall Split
During the Fall Split, the team started the season dominant, winning their first eight games, before finally losing a game to Team Eager. After Week 7, the AFK was 18-2 and almost a guarantee to secure the first seed in North America. However on October 5, 2015, the team decided to go into a different direction, as Team EnVyUs signed the roster.[1]
